I attended my first race when I was just 14 days old and have pretty much grown up at a racetrack. The excitement, the atmosphere and the sense of togetherness are some of the things I remember most — and being able to stand on the sidelines cheering for my father and big brother has been absolutely amazing!
I did go-karting for a number of years, but I did not have the urge to race. I just wanted to train and drive. In 2021, I drove my first club race — and it was awesome! From there, I went from simply doing go-karting to racing go-karts.
Now I am fully focused on becoming a professional racing driver — and maybe one day sharing a car with my father and big brother.
I cannot do this alone. I have the best team around me, all working extremely hard to help me reach my goal. My family, my sponsors and a lot of dedicated people are all an important part of my team. I am incredibly grateful for all the support and backing from every side. THANK YOU!

Biography
Luca is a speed-loving, talented 16-year-old racing driver from Denmark’s most well-known motorsport family – the Magnussen family.
He has practically grown up at the racetrack, where for many years he has followed and supported his father and big brother.
Now it is his turn to take the wheel and pursue his own dream of a career in motorsport.
He got his first go-kart as a 7-year-old in 2016, but did not start racing professionally until 2022, when he drove his first season in SKCC.
In 2023, he took the next step up the ladder, racing X30 and OK Junior in SKCC as well as selected rounds of World Super Kart in OK Junior in Italy. The competition in Italy was tough and highly educational, which is why the choice was made to race X30 Senior in the ROK Cup in Italy in 2024.
In 2025, the go-kart was replaced by a Formula car. Luca is racing a full season in the British GB4 Championship, which takes place on iconic British circuits and features a large and highly competitive field. 2025 is a learning year, where Luca will continue to develop as a racing driver.
In 2026, Luca takes the next major step in his career when he lines up on the grid in McLaren Trophy Europe. This is in collaboration with Paddock Motorsport and Douglas Motorsport – two strong and experienced teams with solid international motorsport experience. The move marks Luca’s debut in GT racing and an important step towards a professional career on the international racing scene.

While 2025 was all about the GB4 Championship, Luca’s primary focus for the 2026 season has now shifted into a new and exciting gear: McLaren Trophy Europe.
Work away from the track
When Luca is not at the racetrack, it is anything but relaxation. The time between race weekends is fully dedicated to intensive physical training and countless hours in the simulator. It is constant work to ensure that he is always razor-sharp and in absolute top form for the many challenges of the McLaren season.
But motorsport is not only won behind the wheel. Luca works hard every day to create new, strong partnerships — and just as importantly: to maintain the close relationship with his current sponsors.
Because in motorsport, the truth is very simple: Without sponsors, there is no racing. They are the absolute foundation of Luca’s career, and he greatly values their indispensable support and belief in the project.

2025 in brief
February – Debut in British single-seater racing
15-year-old Luca Magnussen enters into a partnership with Fortec Motorsports and begins his first season in the British GB4 Championship. This marks his official debut in formula cars.
April – Ready for the first round of GB4
Luca is ready for the opening round at Donington Park, where he will race internationally in formula cars for the first time.
April – Solid GB4 debut
Despite a dramatic ending, Luca delivers a stable weekend at Donington Park and shows promising pace in his first race in the series.
April – High expectations at Silverstone
After a strong debut, Luca looks forward to the next challenge – the second round of GB4 at the legendary Silverstone Circuit.
April – After two rounds: “On the right track”
After two rounds, Luca reflects on his progress and expresses satisfaction with the improvements in pace and experience. He feels he is well on his way into the rhythm of the championship.
May – Chasing points at Oulton Park
With renewed confidence after a strong race, Luca targets further points in the third round of the season.
May – First podium
A major milestone! Luca achieves his first podium finish in GB4, confirming that the talent and hard work are beginning to pay off.
July – Ready again after surgery
An unexpected case of appendicitis temporarily sidelined Luca, but after successful surgery he is ready to resume the season.
July – Comeback at Silverstone
Luca returns to the track he loves the most and delivers a strong comeback after his illness break.
August – Back in top form at Silverstone
Another strong race at Silverstone. Luca secures his second-best result of the season – an impressive P7 – and shows clear progress.
August – Challenged at Brands Hatch
A tough weekend at the demanding Brands Hatch circuit provides valuable learning and motivation ahead of the season finale.
October – Expectations high before the finale
After focused preparation, Luca hopes to end his debut season with a strong result in the GB4 finale.
October – Satisfied with debut season
The season concludes with a solid performance. Luca looks back on his first year in formula racing with satisfaction – a year in which he achieved his first podium and showed significant development throughout the championship.
2024 in brief
- Series: Participation in ROK Cup Italy (8 rounds) and DKL in Denmark (3 rounds).
- Focus: Race experience and race craft. Switched from Tony Kart to EKS Kart.
Key Events
- ROK Cup Italy: Luca drove his first race in March at South Garda Karting. Despite engine problems, he gained valuable experience.
- Super ROK: Switched to the Super ROK class and competed in a race at Jesolo. An accident in the final, but important experience was gained.
- DKL at Rødby Karting Track: An accident in the final resulted in a bruised rib and a break of 4–5 weeks.
Rehabilitation and Comeback
- Treatment: Luca received treatment at Åndedrættet.nu to recover from his rib injury.
- Comeback: Drove a fantastic 6th round of ROK Cup Italy at South Garda, where he gained 18 positions and finished in 9th place.
Other Notable Events
- Podcast: Luca appeared on the Formula 1 Podcast with Peter Nyggard and Felix Smith.
- DR1 Documentary: Luca and his family took part in the documentary series “Barn af Eliten” on DR1. ROK Cup Finale: Luca won the final round of ROK Cup Italy at Sette Laghi Kart, which was a great end to the season.
- FIA Motorsport Games 2024: Luca represented Denmark in Karting Sprint Senior in Valencia and became the best Danish go-kart driver.
Future Plans
- GB4 Test: Tested a GB4 car for Fortec Motorsports at Donington Park with positive results and several additional test days planned.
- Nordic 4: Working on participating in Nordic 4, the Danish Formula 4 series.
Luca has had a year full of challenges, exciting races and great achievements, and he is looking forward to new adventures in 2025!
